The Belmont - Shanklin, Isle of Wight

Walking

The Isle of Wight is a walker’s dream, offering over 500 miles of well-maintained footpaths through spectacular scenery and terrain, making it the perfect place for a walking holiday or break. With footpaths that wind through fields and forests, and round 64 miles of coast paths adjacent to some of the Isle of Wight’s most dramatic coastline and beaches. With a great range of walking routes it is possible to access almost every corner of the Island, including many of our fascinating towns and village. Walking on the Isle of Wight is by far the best way to enjoy one of the UK’s designated areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Here we have a selection of walking routes for all abilities:

The Histree Trails

The Isle of Wight Histree Trail Project ran from 2006-2009. The project was dedicated to finding and recording the Island’s special trees, collecting local stories and researching local heritage. A series of trails were created to guide walkers around groups of trees in publicly accessible places.
